Recreation and Athletics at the University of Regina offers a number of programs during the summer months as well as throughout the year. There are programs for children and adults. Summer Sports School, for the kids, focuses on physical literacy as well as integration with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics). Cougar and Rams camps focus on skill development in their respective sports (football, track, volleyball, soccer and hockey). We also offer public memberships for the Fitness Centre, and fitness programs.

Cougar Athletics and Rams Football Camps
Our Summer Sports School Days program (offered on non-school/pd days) is a continuation of our Summer Sports School program that includes a variety of activities that may include art, sport, and science! The emphasis is for participants to have fun, meet others, become physically active and learn new skills. All activities will be planned, facilitated and supervised by instructors and will be modified to suit the age level and ability of the participants. Swimming may be added closer to the day. No previous experience is necessary.

LIFESAVING SOCIETY LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM
As of January 1, Red Cross will no longer be offering swimming lessons, we will be moving to the Lifesaving Society Learn to Swim Program. EASTER BREAK CAMP
Our Easter Break camp, offered every year, is a continuation of Summer Sports School. This week long camp will include a variety of art, sport, and science. Throughout the week we will be working on team building with the children and cap off the week with some group activities. The emphasis is for participants to have fun, meet others, become physically active and learn new skills. All activities will be planned, facilitated and supervised by instructors and will be modified to suit the age level and ability of the participants. Swimming may be added closer to camp. TAE KWON DO
Registration for Fall/Winter 2023/2024 sessions is open! Age groups: 5-9, 10-13, 13+
September 9 – April 21 (No class 30 Sep 2023 / 11,12 Nov 2023 / 23,24,30,31 Dec 2023 / 17,18 Feb 2024)

Taekwondo helps increase focus and self-control, improves the development of gross motor skills, and optimizes balance and posture. It also teaches discipline and respect. Let’s help our kids to become more confident!
SPORT FOR ALL – Ages 7-13
Individualized instruction for children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, ages 7 to 13. Low instructor ration (2 kids to 1 instructor)
This 8-week program will focus on the development of FUNdamental movement skills. To promote participation in physical activity, these skills will be practices in a variety of games and activities. Team sports will also be introduced to facilitate the successful transfer of these skills into community-based activities, including physical education. The low instructor to athlete ratio will allow for individualized instruction to provide everyone with a fun and successful learning experience.

NEW BEGINNINGS
New Beginnings is a program for newcomers to Canada. It focuses on providing recreation and classroom activities to support children ages 5-12 as they get used to living in Canada. This program is run in partnership with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.

ADULTS
Check out the Fitness and Lifestyle Centre. It features a 4 lane 200 metre indoor track, and a great selection of cardio, plate loaded, selectorized and free weight equipment, and a core strength/stretching area. We also offer a variety of Fitness Programs aimed at promoting active and healthy lifestyles. Classes are tailored to meet the needs and general fitness levels of participants and can accommodate a range of fitness levels within each class. These classes work toward improving cardiovascular efficiency, flexibility, muscular endurance, coordination and muscle tone.
The U of R also offers spin, yoga, Zumba, boxing, step, pound, body sculpt, and water workout classes! Visit here for details.
